Maumelle, North Little Rock Firefighters Battle Chimney Fire

LITTLE ROCK, AR — The Maumelle Fire Department and North Little Rock Fire Department battled a chimney fire overnight fire in Maumelle.

Fire officials received a call around 12:30 p.m. about a house fire on Coronado Cove. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found zero-visibility smoke coming from the home, according to the Maumelle Fire Department.

The fire reportedly started in the chimney and was put out two hours later. Firefighters used a ladder truck to put the fire out from above the chimney, according to the department.

Firefighters said there were two people in the home when the fire started but they were able to get out with no injuries.

This is not the first chimney fire they have had this winter, according to the fire department.

Fire officials said it is important to have chimneys inspected once a year by a chimney sweep to prevent a chimney fire.

This is just a prime example of why a regular chimney cleaning is needed.
