Ask Russ: After Burning Season Maintenance

Ask Russ – Fielding Homeowner Questions.

It’s the end of “winter” and you’re not planning to utilize your fireplace. What kind of maintenance do you need to have done to your system?

  • Get your chimney swept and inspected by a Certified Chimney Sweep® in the spring or summer. Why? Take a listen. (hint: it’s the best time to remove corrosive and flammable deposits and to do repairs and upgrades).
  • Don’t forget to you get your furnace or gas fireplace flues inspected too. Carbon Monoxide is a silent killer.

We’ll be adding new “Ask Russ” features regularly. If you’re a homeowner and have a question for the expert, please send it to marketing@csia.org and we’ll try to get it answered for you.
